Company

We make software that makes life easier, and we finish it.

Datafication is a small, independent software company in Pennsylvania. It began in 2022 with one idea: software should fully answer the need it was made for, for the people who use it and the developers who build with it.

Our purpose

Creative freedom, and making people's lives easier. That's the whole business.

A purpose

Everything has a reason to exist

Nothing we make is there to fill a catalog. Each product exists because someone needed it.

Crafted

Made for everyone who uses it

The person reading a river level and the developer reading our docs both deserve care in the details.

Fulfilled

Nothing left wanting

The intended purpose is met in full, not left as a promise for a later version.

Our story

An outlet for the needs we kept seeing.

Our founder spent many years building software products and saw, again and again, where they fell short for the people using them.

Features shipped half-done. Developers had to leave their own platform to do ordinary work. Information people needed in a hurry was scattered across places they'd never think to look. The products worked, but they didn't quite finish the job.

Datafication started in 2022 as an outlet to answer those needs, with better experiences for users and developers alike. It began with the tools developers were missing: a data library for .NET, then a notebook to explore with, then browser automation to prove what shipped. In 2026 it turned the same care toward everyone, with Town Monitor, a live page for every town in the United States.

The company became Datafication LLC through its business filings in 2026. It is still founder-led, self-funded and small on purpose, so the person who answers your email is the person who builds the product.

Principles

Four rules every product has to pass.

They explain why the products look and behave the way they do, and they're the standard you can hold us to.

Start from a real need

Every product began as an answer to something people struggled with, often something we struggled with ourselves. We still use all of them every day, which is the fastest way to find out what's wrong with them.

Finish the job

A product ships when its purpose is fulfilled. Guides ship with features, docs are written alongside the code, and on Town Monitor every reading carries its source and its time.

Native and honest

A tool built for a platform should behave like that platform: no sidecars, no borrowed runtimes. Our own built-in features use the same public interfaces anyone else can, with no back doors.

Clear about what's free

Verso and Motus are MIT and will stay that way. The SDK is commercial and says so, and it is free for small teams and qualifying open-source projects. Town Monitor's public information stays free to read; Plus sells convenience.

The people

Founder-led, and small on purpose.

Torrey Betts founded Datafication. He designs and builds the products, writes the documentation and reads every message sent to the support address.

Verso and Motus take issues, discussions and pull requests on GitHub, and contributors are credited in the release notes.

Contact

Write to a person, not a queue.

No forms, no ticket queues, no chatbots. If something we make leaves a need unmet, we want to hear about it.

Email
